One of the best-known names in cruising, Princess Cruises first set sail in 1965 with a single ship cruising to Mexico. Fast forward to today, and we suddenly find Princess celebrating their 50th anniversary season in Alaska in 2019 – and with their largest deployment to date. So they certainly know their way around the 49th State! And more than ever, Princess ships sparkle due to a new revitalization of the fleet with upgraded accommodations, newly added entertainment, new original dining venues featuring famed Celebrity Chefs, and further enhancements of the fleet in every way. And the Alaska focus onboard is ever-present with guest speakers and comprehensive lectures, Alaskan menu items, native art demonstrations, and much more.
North to Alaska! Princess covers the most diverse choices of routes and departure points for summer 2019 – featuring one week Inside Passage voyages, either roundtrip from Seattle or one way glacier-focused itineraries, or for 10 nights roundtrip from San Francisco and being the only cruise line to schedule this regularly; or venture for longer on a Land & Sea package featuring exploration into the interior visiting Denali National Park, Fairbanks, and far beyond. Princess owns all of their own beautiful wilderness lodges in Alaska, and so provide for a remarkable consistency of quality en route. Lengths of itineraries vary – just decide for how long and how in depth you want to go. New for 2019 is the debut of Princess’ largest and flagship, Royal Princess, in Alaska for the first time.
Princess Cruises, partly thanks to their cruise leadership and iconic imagery (the famous Seawitch logo), as well as originally debuting modern cruising with their former hit show ‘The Love Boat,’ will impress you and reinvigorate your body and soul, so that upon return from your vacation you will feel as though you have come back new.

From family-friendly stateroom options to enriching youth and family programs, quality time is time well spent. Onboard activities spark curiosity and fuel creativity while excursions ashore engage and inspire!
THE TREEHOUSE - Even the littlest guests will delight in this whimsical, forest-themed world that inspires playtime and invites exploration. Kids, ages 3 to 7, can dance, enjoy pajama movie nights, create art projects like Animal Planet™ puppets and masks or compete in a Lego® boat-building contest (Kids 3-7)
THE LODGE - Inspired by the great outdoors, this cozy center keeps kids busy with games, dancing and kid-sized Olympic competitions. Their minds stay busy, too, with California Science Center programs like rocket building, or they can explore outer space with Stargazing and learning how to build a model roller coaster. Exciting events like talent shows, theme nights, and treasure hunts encourage new friendships and family togetherness (Kids 8 -12)
THE BEACH HOUSE - This contemporary lounge is "the place” for teens — perfect for hanging out and socializing with late-night movie viewing, hip hop dance classes, video game tournaments and sports competitions like dodgeball and basketball. But that’s just the beginning. They’ll dazzle on the red carpet with the Rock the Boat teens-only party, complete with awards and “mocktails” (Teens 13-17)
New programs will roll out together fleetwide, while new center designs (The Treehouse, The Lodge & The Beach House), launch individually through 2019.
FAMILY - Princess makes it easy to sail together in comfort. There is a wide selection of staterooms accommodating up to four guests, and you’ll enjoy substantial savings on your third and fourth guests. There are also connecting stateroom options, as well as Two Bedroom Family Suites, with room for up to eight guests, which offer more living space, a balcony and two bathrooms, including a full bath tub.

During your cruise, you should dress the same way you would do ashore. Leisure wear such as shorts and t-shirts is appropriate on board and on shore excursions in a warm climate. Depending on your itinerary, we advise you to bring sweaters and jackets for chilly evenings. Keep in mind that it could rain and that you need correct clothing for visits to religious sites. On deck, sandals with rubber soles and sneakers are ideal.
There are two recommendations for evenings and dinners:
Smart casual: Dress the same way you would do for a visit to a restaurant at home. Skirts, dresses or trousers with t-shirt or blouse for ladies, trousers and shirt or polo shirt for gentlemen. Shorts and swimwear are not allowed in the restaurant.
Formal: Evening gown, cocktail dress or pantsuits for ladies, suit, combination or dinner jackets for gentlemen. Princess Cruises offers formal wear rental on all cruises.
Pregnant women are not allowed to sail if they are entering the 24th week of their pregnancy by the last day of the cruise. All pregnant women are required to produce a physician’s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD) calculated from both Last Menstrual Period (LMP) and ultrasound (if performed). Please fax your physician letter to the Fleet Medical Department confidential fax at (661) 753-0121.
The minimum Guest age is 6 months on Alaska, Canada/New England, Caribbean, Europe, Mexico, Trans-canal and Australia/New Zealand cruises, and 12 months on all other cruises, including transatlantic and transpacific itineraries.
