Stuart and Heather Allan are hosting our northbound Best of Alaska cruisetour departing from Vancouver June 19, 2013. Here’s an introductory bio on them.
Stuart and Heather currently live in Langley, BC moving there 16 years ago, after spending 20 years on Vancouver Island. They have been married for 37 years and have two daughters, two lovely granddaughters and are expecting a grandson in the spring of 2013.
Stuart has engineering and business degrees and retired in December 2012, after 38 years in the pulp and paper business, working in both operations and sales and marketing.
Heather has a microbiology degree but has dedicated most of her life to bringing up her two daughters. She did enjoy her 10 years as a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Campbell River, greeting people new to the community. These days she manages the home front and tries to balance life between family needs and finding time for friends and fun.
Travel (both for business and pleasure) has always played a major part in their lives taking them to many different countries around the world. Cruising has been a big part of this over the past 12 years. Trips to Alaska, Mexico, South America, Panama Canal, Caribbean, the Mediterranean, and the UK have been a part of the 14 cruises they have now done.
With retirement, they look forward to having more time doing some of their favourite activities such as skiing, bike riding, workouts at the gym, as well as completing the many home projects that always seem to be there. Of course, more time to play with their grandchildren is high on the list. Travel will also be a major part of retirement with cruises to Hawaii and Asia already planned, as well as thoughts about return visits to Europe and Australia, and New Zealand.
