When you first meet Gary, you would never guess this well-mannered man with boyish looks plays in a band. As I discovered when speaking with him, he seems to have found the perfect balance between work and life.
Coming from a client service background, Gary admits he hasn’t cruised yet, but that isn’t stopping him from learning about cruising and researching anything he doesn’t know for his clients. His proactive approach is sure to make clients happy.
But let’s get back to how cool he is with this interview…
Vanny: Gary, we’re happy to have you onboard! Tell us what drew you to the cruise and travel industry?
Gary: Recently, I worked at EA Sports compiling player research for FIFA 13. I worked as a personal concierge for athletes and celebrities during the 2010 Olympics. I also have worked many years in a retail environment and as a marketing and promotions manager for a sports bar. My desire to travel brought me to the travel industry. I always thought that a cruise would be part of a perfect vacation.
Vanny: It most certainly is one of the best ways to see the world. You mention you’d like to do more travelling. Where do you plan on going?
Gary: Travel plans include a cruise to be sure, a cruise to Alaska! And I would like to visit my mother in Ontario for Christmas.
Vanny: What do you do in your spare time?
Gary: I spend time with my daughter. I’m a goalie in hockey, a bad one, and I have a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and a Blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
I also work part-time for a beer radio show doing business development. We try to focus on craft beer but some larger breweries like Molson have recently come on board.
Vanny: That’s so cool! Another cool thing you mentioned was that you’re in a band. What kind?
Gary: I play bass in a hard-core punk band and we are releasing our first album soon!
