Alaska Cruises For Families
Cruising to Alaska
with your family is an excellent vacation choice! Today's cruise ships are
large and feature a myriad of amenities that will appeal to all ages. Combine
that with the majesty of Alaska's incredible scenery and your family will
experience an unforgettable vacation. Onboard almost every modern cruise ship
are multiple swimming pools with one usually reserved for children, casual
restaurants serving hot dogs and hamburgers with fries and shakes, video arcades
and even the famous rock climbing walls. together with specialty dining venues,
martini and champagne bars, adults-only areas, spectacular Broadway and Vegas
style shows and extensive spa facilities, every member of the family is well
catered for.
What to do with the
little ones when you want a bit of peace and quiet in the spa? All large cruise
ships offer Childrens and Youth Programs. Programs are usually split into three
or four groups, one for two to four year olds, others for five to eight, nine to
twelve and finally one for the teens. One the large ships, each age segment
offers seperate facilities featuring amenities suited to the age group. Of
course there are many trained counsellors entertaining their charges and
overseeing their safety. The teens have their own coffee rooms or teen age
discos with soda fountains, video games, etc. Families could meet up for meals
but otherwise "do their own thing" if they choose to do so. The Childrens and
Youth programs are all complimentary.
While the kids are
off on their (supervised) own, Mom and Dad can enjoy a romantic couples massage
or an aromatherapy treatment in the spa, or Dad could go into the cigar lounge
for a smoke and a cognac while Mom shops her heart out in the ship's many
duty-free boutiques. After overseeing the kids for dinner in the casual
restaurant (no need to dress up formally), Mom and Dad can enjoy a romantic
gourment dinner in the Dining Room or in one of the Specialty Restaurants. Of
course, babysitting can be arranged with the Front Desk for a small charge.
Alternatively for
multi genrational families who are cruising together, a good travel agent can
ensure that all family members dine together in one or more large tables that
are prereserved in the dinign room. The travel agent can also book shore
excrusions for the entire family to enjoy. If the group is large enough, a
private van or motorcoach can be arranged for just the family members to go
sightseeing with a local guide. A private cocktail party can be arranged in one
of the ship's lounges if there is a celebration.
